Metagame Discussion - Inzecters

I learned something today.

In almost every set, Konami releases a broken archetype or card type to boost sales.
-Gladiator Beasts in GLAS.
-The massive amounts of DARK support in PTDN.
-Lightsworns in LODT.
-Synchros in TDGS.
-Further DARK support in CRMS.
-Blackwings in CRMS and RGBT.
-X-Sabers in ANPR and ABPF.
-Infernities in TSHD.
-Karakuri in STBL, STOR and EXVC.
-Legendary Six Sams in STOR.
-Tech Genus in EXVC.
-Exceeds in GENF.

It's deliberate. People will spend much more on a box of a set if there's some OP card or cards in it, and for good reason. For all of these decks save Karakuri (for now) and Tech Genus, they've single-handedly defined at least one format. The PTDN set with the CRMS support even needed an emergency banlist. And what's more, each of them has had their money card.
In GLAS, Heraklinos hit over 200. So did DAD, and Judgment Dragon/Honest. TDGS had basically all of the Synchros. CRMS had Armor Master at 45, Dark Strike at 50, Gale (a fucking rare) at 10, and Black Whirlwind (a common) at 4 or 5. The ABPF Sabers had Emmersblade at 80. Infernities brought Barrier and Launcher at 50 and 25, respectively. Karakuri Burei got up to 25. Shi En was at something like 40, along with Kizan. Tech Genus are expensive for being rares/commons, and then Exceeds brought Leviair at 40 (now 25, thank god) and bumped Tour Guide from 30 to 180.
Every one of those cards sold innumerable amounts of their packs. I have to give props to Konami for creating such a lucrative business out of shiny paper. But this post isn't to bitch about price, or the power creep in the game. No, this post is about the next new broken archetype. Inzecters.

Inzecter Hornet
DARK / Insect / Level 3 / 500atk / 200 def
Once per turn: You can equip 1 "Inzecter" monster in your hand or Graveyard to this card. While this card is equipped to a monster, increase the equipped monster's Level by 3, and the equipped monster gains ATK and DEF equal to this card's ATK and DEF, respectively. You can send this Equip Card to the Graveyard to target 1 card on the field; destroy it.

Inzecter Damsel
DARK / Insect / Level 3 / 1000atk / 1800def
Once per turn: You can equip 1 "Inzecter" monster in your hand or Graveyard to this card. While this card is equipped to a monster, increase the equipped monster's Level by 3. If an Equip Card equipped to this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 "Inzecter" monster from your Deck, except "Inzecter Damsel".

Inzecter Centipede
DARK / Insect / Level 3 / 1600atk / 1200def
Once per turn: You can equip 1 "Inzecter" monster in your hand or Graveyard to this card. While this card is equipped to a monster, increase the equipped monster's Level by 3. If an Equip Card equipped to this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can add 1 "Inzecter" monster from your Deck to your hand.

The only ones that really matter. There are a couple good level sixes that special summon an Inzecter when they're sent to the grave while equipped, Gigamantis and Gigaweevil. Look them up. Not doing more formatting. Anyway, notice that they're all DARK - that means they get all of that stupid DARK support like Dark Armed and Allure. Notice that Hornet can send itself to the grave. That triggers both Damsel and Centipede. Again, notice, notice all the things, all of them are level 3. Rank 3s are almost as easy with this deck as summoning Tour Guide, but this deck plusses while doing it.

Picture this scenario - you open Damsel and Foolish. The four other cards don't matter. Foolish Hornet (-1), summon Damsel, equip Hornet (+1), send Hornet (-1), blow up a card (+1) and summon Centipede (+1). Centipede equip Hornet (+1), send Hornet (-1), blow up a card (+1), add Damsel to hand (+1), Exceed something like Zenmaines or Leviair (-1). Do the whole fucking thing over again next turn. That play was a +2.

WHAT THE FUCK

You can also run Grepher to speed the deck up. I'd run Armageddon Knight over it though, because Grepher requires stuff in hand to work and also takes away from the retarded advantage you can rack up.

I'd like to point out the brokenness of combining this with Wind-Ups. All you need is three of each Inzecter, a Wind-Up Hunter, and three Wind-Up Rat. After that derpy-ass turn, instead of Exceeding into Leviair or Zenmaines, go Zenmaighty. Do the derpy Wind-Up hand loop. Correct me if I'm wrong (which I'm not) but after the Inzecter shenanigans and the Wind-Up hand loop, you've just made a +6. And your opponent has no hand or field.

I'm buying a fucking box (or fucking boxes) of ORCS; I highly suggest you do too, because unless you're running this deck or a way to counter it, you're gonna lose. And it's gonna be oh so fun playing this.

PS: Chow, requesting a Wind-Up article so peoples who don't wanna look up the Wind-Up loop can have a free tutorial.

New Masked HERO and the Descent of God

http://shriek.twoday.net/stories/55773990/

You guys see the two fusion monsters in the pic? You know what those guys are? Do yah? Do yah??? They're the new Masked HERO :3

PP14-JP005
Masked HERO Acid
WATER/Warrior - Fusion - Effect/8/2600/2100
Manga Effect: When this card is Special Summoned, destroy all Spell/Trap Cards your opponent controls. Then, all face-up monsters your opponent controls lose 300 ATK.
PP14-JP006
Masked HERO Daian
EARTH/Warrior - Fusion - Effect/8/2800/2300
Manga Effect: If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from your Deck.

I was hoping Acid would have been a WIND so that Mask Change would have more targets (Airman and Great Tornado). Its effect is filled with awesomeness though, a walking Harpie's Feather Duster. Absolute Zero + Mask Change into Acid becomes a one sided field nuke. It's secondary effect is a little underwhelming, but makes Scrap Dragon, Scrap Archfiend, Crimson Blader, Gorz, Trishula, and anything with 2800 attack or less killable. Sadly, it falls short of some of the big guys in today's meta (Chaos Soldier - Envoy of Creation, Shooting Quasar, Grapha + Gate).

Daian is incredible. A +1 in battle just like Nova Master. Safe Zone on this guy and you'll be swarming the field in no time. Pull Airman and that's a +2. Makes Mask Change and Super Poly plays more possible. Mask Change from Gaia into Daian promises a +1 unless your opponent has a backrow or Veiler. There aren't many good targets besides Forestman and The Earth. Even then, most HERO Gate players don't run either of those but they're a shoo-in for me.

After these are released, the only Masked HERO fusion left will be Dark Law. It doesn't look like we'll be getting a LIGHT Masked HERO which is really disappointing since there have been so many times when I wished I could have Mask Changed my Another Neos, Voltech, or Shining :c

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Slifer_the_Sky_Dragon

Omg finally, the last of the Gods and he is a fuckin beast. Awesome artwork. His second effect (Summon Lightning Blast!!!!!) KILLS Plants. This could take a spot in Emperors/Monarchs instead of Obelisk. I was thinking about running this in HEROs for nostalgic sake but I was worried about whether or not I could keep the hand advantage. But then I realized something: you'll only need this guy at 1000 most of the time because his effect will reduce anything with 2900 attack or less to God food. Sadly, it doesn't come with a built in protection effect like Obelisk does so simply Synchro Summoning into a Brionac or Scrap Dragon in defense (it only weakens monsters that are Summoned in attack mode) will put Osiris/Slifer in its place. Tuners like Plaguespreader, Glow-Up, T.G. Striker and Spore can easily play around this guy's effect. Nevertheless, this card is a huge improvement compared to Ra.

Gotcha~

Chow's Local Report 12/4/2011 and Cardfight!! Vanguard

Sorry I haven't been posting enough. Between a job and classes, I really don't have the time to just plop down and freely write for fun when I could be relaxing some other way. I'll keep this report short too since I ended up playing scrubs half the day. Everyone else was at regionals and I guess I didn't get the memo.

Just like last time, we had 2 people who went 4-0. Although it wasn't necessary to play another match, the winner would get a Duelist League card with those fancy colored letters. It was me and Jared and this time again so we got right down to it.

Round 5 - Jared & Legendary Six Sams
1 - He won the dice roll and went into Shi En right away. I didn't have Veiler in hand so I couldn't stop it. What I did have was a Terraforming, E - Call, Heat, Miracle Fusion, and Safe Zone. Drew into Gate and tried Terraforming into another but was blocked by Bribe. Then I tried Calling Stratos but Shi En took care of that. I tried stalling but the game was over 3 turns later.
2 - I sided into TKRO but it didn't really mater though because I didn't draw into him during any of my remaining games. I summon Diamond Dude and milled a Dark Hole. He goes into Enishi and Kageki but Safe Zone protected Diamond. Dark Hole activated next turn and I was free to continue to plus off Diamond Dude. Hit a Reinforcement of the Army, then a Emergency Call, then a Noblemen which I Exterminated his Mirror Force with, then a Parallel. No misses >:) I don't think he drew too many monsters but did have a decent amount of backrow to counteract my Fusions. I forced Shi En to negate my Destiny Draw, activated Noblemen of Extermination at my own face down and chained the Safe Zone onto his Shi En. I minused 2 but he lost a Shi En which was good enough for me. I forced a Torrential with Black Luster Soldier - Envoy and followed up with two Miracle Fusions for game.
3 - This was a hella fun game. He set Kageki, I attacked into it with Stratos. He drew and pass. I drew into Ocean, summoned, set Safe Zone and end. He summons Kagemusha and I activate Safe Zone on Ocean in response to the summon. He destroys Stratos and I recycled it next turn. He destroys it again I recycle and blow up his backrow instead of the usual searching. I was steadily building up my resources with Stratos. I started pushing back with BLS and I thought I had him on a roll. Feeling confident, I Safe Zoned my BLS during his Standby. He goes into Black Rose which I was totally chill with. I had Diamond Dude, Miracle Fusion, and Monster Reborn in hand, a dead Stratos, Ocean, and BLS in grave. He wasn't letting me off that easy and Reborned my own BLS. I was down to 3100 but next turn, I reborned Stratos, added Voltic to hand, Miracle Fused into Great Tornado and attacked over BLS. Misplay on my part since I could have simply Miracled into Great Tornado and then Reborned BLS. Fugglor also pointed out that I didn't Normal Summoned and could have Voltic into another Stratos for game. Next turn I did the Voltic play and then Super Poly'd into Adoration for the final push.
XOO

Pros:
-Black Luster Soldier is a god send. Thank you so much Epicake, I found my answer to Shi En and Naturia Beast.
-Safe Zone is not as dead as I thought it would be. At the beginning of the format, I was sick of getting it MST'd so I just got rid of it completely. However, today made me appreciate me this card sooo much. This on Ocean, Diamond, Nova Master, and BLS will guarantee me to score pluses.
-Got over my SixSam-phobia.

Cons:
-Crap packs.
-I thought I would end up with a lot of dead Spells in my hand so I threw in two Summoner Monks. Most of the time, it just sat in my hand since I didn't really want to pitch any of Spells since they all played a key part in my plans. Most of the time I wish it was a HERO. Too bad we don't have Escuridao.

I pulled crap from my Turbo Packs and GENF (another Infected Mail ><). I did manage to score another SR Chain Disappearance and SR Quickdraw for Fugglor. Got my last SR Diamond Dude, two Secret Destiny Draws, and a third UR Miracle Fusion. Now all I need is 2 more ScR Super Polymerization :3

I had fun today but I wish the tougher people would show up more often. It would have been nice if I could have played Fugglor in the last round but he put together a deck at the last second and got controlled by BW :3

Trying to decide if I should go next week even though I have exams to study for...

Oh and one last thought. I've been debating whether or not I should play Cardfight!! Vanguard. I've been watching the anime and it looks really fun. I've had thoughts but it was when I was in a sort of YGO slump. Before I could blow off 160 bucks on Trial Decks and two boxes of Set 1, Fugglor managed to snap some sense into me. I gotta save up some dough for other things...like Order of Chaos!!! Hahah.
If you guys have the time and money to play another card game though, I would highly suggest investing it into Cardfight!! It's made by the guy who wrote Yu-Gi-Oh! R and Duel Masters and is extremely fun. Royal Paladins for the win!!!!! Maybe I'll start when it hits shelves in Oregon...
If you guys are intersted, check out RyuKuze, LGQ, and Rauzes blog ;)

Shooting Quasar Dragon

I'm really surprised no one in the area has this yet... I'm gonna have to end up buying it >>

And what's more, I'm astonished that decks based around this guy haven't been topping in the OCG. Especially since he's a double-attacking giant Shi En with a better negation effect who sends out his bitch to clean up after he leaves.

Imma gonna break this shit, just you watch. Or help. That'd be cool too.

Epicake's Tourney Report - 11/26

So I decided to run Skill Drain Gravekeeper's yesterday at the Box Tourney, after testing against Fugglor and Chow 8 times.  8-0 (although Fugglor keeps raving about beating me one game, but not the match).  I walked in and saw all the "competitive" players getting ready to play and knew it'd be a fun day.

Match 1 - Six Samurai
This is the kid that Fugglor lost to 2 weeks ago, underestimating him.  This made me overestimate him, and so I 2-0'd him easy as hell.

Game 1 - I've got Necrovalley on the field, and he uses some trap that reduces your life points to 100 and special summon Six Sam's from your grave.  So, he reduced and I pointed at Necrovalley, and he just picked his shit up.  XD

Game 2 - Malefic Cyber End beatdown time.  He drew crap.  Probably cause his deck was crap.

OO

Match 2 - Blackwings
Another easy match-up, really Andrew?  My tiebreakers are gonna frickin suck... This kid was running all the shitty blackwings, and speaking like one would in the Anime.  2-0... hella easy.

Game 1 - He foolish burial's a Vayu, and Paco sitting right next to me starts laughing.  He attacked into my Recruiter with a Shura and I flipped Skill Drain, and searched Commandant.  Dropped Malefic Cyber End Dragon next turn, and he had no answer.

Game 2 - I get a 2nd turn Royal Tribute on him, and he dropped 2 from his hand.  His field was a Shura and Bora, and 2 backrows.  Solemn Judgment is gud.

OO

Match 3 - Tour Guide Plants (Synchrocentric WTF??)
So, this is Tommy.  He's got his playset of TGU, holo'd out Lonefire, Debris and shit but I know I can beat him.  I always seem to, and he gets kinda pissed thinking I'm stacking.

Game 1 - I went first, and Duality'd into a Commandant, Necrovalley and Book of Moon.  Took the Commandant, pitched for Necrovalley, set Recruiter and Royal Tribute'd.  He dropped four from his hand and instantly started bitching about the chances, and implying that I was stacking.  I also noticed he drew an extra card out of turn, knowing he shouldn't be.  I decided not to call Andrew over cause I knew I was going to win anyways and I kind of like Tommy.

I side in D-Fissures, and shuffle shuffle shuffle.  Then I put my deck down for him to cut, and he picks it up and pile shuffles.  Takes a while.  I'm sorta pissed.

Game 2 - He goes first, sets 1 backrow, Normal Summons Tengu and ends.  I draw and set a Recruiter and end.  He draws, One for One's with Debris or something into Bulb and does the bullshit with Librarian and Tengu.  I search Commandant with Recruiter's effect, and next turn I draw into Royal Tribute.  So, I Royal Tribute him to check out his remaining hand and it was a Duality and somethin'.  Nothing big, so I decide to push and Dark Hole him.  It goes through, and I set Spy and Skill Drain and end.  Next turn he uses Duality and hits shit.  He sets Monster Reborn and ends.  I draw, holding onto MY Reborn in hand, and flip Spy.  Go Descendant, attack attack and take out his other non-bluff backrow.  He draws and ends.  Next turn, I normal summon Commandant thinking I can go for game but I was reading the wrong side of the LP counter.  I end up beating him down with my Descendant like one should.

OO

Match 4 - Dark Worlds
Oh god.  Please no.  This guy I always know I can beat, but I know I'm going to lose from the start.  Worst match-up.  Ever.

Game 1 - Draw Royal Tribute, Necrovalley, Stele, Recruiter, Duality, something else.  I'm pissed, so I use Duality.  Hit another Royal Tribute.  I set Recruiter and such, gets killed, search Commandant forgetting that Dark Smog exists.  It exists.  He gets rid of my Recruiter after playing Gates over Necrovalley, and proceeds to rape me from there.

Game 2 - I outplay him, and even he admits it.  I hold onto my Heavy, waiting for a Dragged Down into the Grave play, and he knows I've got the Heavy in my hand.  I was making it pretty obvious.  He decides to go for the Dragged Down play, obviously going for the Heavy.  Well fuck Dark Worlds.  Gravekeeper's Watcher that shit.  I heavy him next turn and he doesn't have shit to respond.

Game 3 - Drew all 3 Dualities.  GG.

I have to say it was a fun match, testing my skills that second game.  But against my worst match-up it's hard to even try.

XOX

Top 4 - Match 1 - Dark Worlds
Same guy, so why even fucking talk about it?  The same thing happens, except I don't even get one game.

XX

So, I'm leaving.  Pissed.  And Andrew stops me and gives me my extra packs.  I'm like oh yeah... and I let him open my PHSW pack.  I open my extra GENF and TU06 and pull a Pain Painter and Ulty DAD.  Not bad, seeing as I pulled a Sangan from my TU06 entry pack.  My day just got better.

Final Result - 3-1, 0-1

11/21/11

Thoughts on YCS Kansas City, and why the game costs too much again.

Well, the Kansas City decklists are out - http://www.konami.com/yugioh/blog/?p=7696

There were three Agent builds, two Karakuri decks, a lone Dark World deck, three Rabbit Exceed builds (told you it would top, Chow and Epicake, you fuckin yellow assholes), six Tengu Plant builds, and then one Chaos deck which I actually like. Good to see Dimensional Alchemist winning, even if it was probably a fluke.

And if you pay close attention, you'll notice that not only did Konami come up with some dumbass name for Tengu Plant (synchrocentric? da fuk?), 13 of the top 16 decks ran Tour Guide at three. The three that didn't were Karakuri and the Dark World build (why).

And that's fucked.

The game is catering to the money players again, just like it was before the Duality/Warning reprint. The message here is that unless you're going to spend upwards of $500 on a deck, you're not going to win. And there are only two ways out.

1. Reprint Tour Guide.
or
2. Limit/Ban Tour Guide.

That's not to say that Tour Guide is broken. Not at all. It's good, sure. It's also semi-splashable, and it provides Chaos food for Agents and searches the deck in Dark Worlds. But the real problem is that it's near-impossible to get unless you're incredibly trade-savvy or have a lot of money to waste. How healthy is it when the top 90% of decks cost $600 at the very least? It isn't. At all. Now, I don't exactly want TGU banned, but it should be cut down to one like Stratos was back after the Perfect Circle format. Basically, it should only be consistent in a few specific decks (Fabled, Dark World, etc.) to be a healthy card for the game.

On a side note, I feel really bad for the three Rabbit Exceed players. Triple TGU, triple Rabbit and double Laggia/Dolkka. One dude ran BLS, double Veiler and triple Maxx "C". Offhand, I'd say that deck cost... about $1400. And they didn't even win.

BUT I FUCKIN TOLD YOU IT WOULD TOP.
Assholes.

/fugglor

11/12/11

Fugglor's Tourney Report - 11/12

Took my Full Monster build to Locals today. Right before the tourney I scored three T.G. Striker and T.G. Warwolf off Epicake, so there's that. I'll put up the build at the end of the post.

Match 1 - Beatdown Exceed

This one was balls easy. First thing he did was summon Drill Barnacle; I thought he was gonna be doing some Generation Diva shit, but he flipped some random Normal 3* and made Leviathan Dragon. I discarded Spore for Quickdraw and sacked it for Caius... xD bad play is bad, but it got rid of Leviathan and he couldn't recover. I kept Caiusing his vanilla beaters (Alexandrite Dragon, Dark Blade, and some 1600 GENF card), and summoned Trishula for game. Game 2 went the same way.
OO

Match 2 - Epicake and Gravekeepers

FUCKIN ANDREW. (our tourney's resident Asian judge)

I knew this would happen. Gravekeepers are my worst matchup, as everything I do either targets the Graveyard or removes shit from play. Well, I won the dice roll, so I went first.

1. He drew garbage. No Necrovalley, no good beaters, no good backrows. Kept hitting him for damage until he set something; then I summoned Trishula and RFGed his field/hand. I felt sort of bad.
2. This time, he got Necrovalley out first turn. I drew a mostly-garbage hand, summoned Rai-Oh, and passed. Eventually, I managed to get Treeborn in the grave, and tributed for Mobius, blowing only Necrovalley (afraid of Starlight Road). I made a Scrap Dragon after that, decided not to hit his backrow, and Scrap Dragon got D-Prisoned. He played Necrovalley next turn and Royal Tributed my hand. I lost this one.
3. This one was close as hell. I was basically setting things, blocking the damage until I could draw into some answers. Eventually, he was at 6000 from using Warning, I was at 2000-something, and drew into Rai-Oh. I managed to make Brionac, bounced Necrovalley, summoned BLS, and brought Level Eater and Glow-Up back for game.
OXO

Match 3 - Bad Gravekeepers
I played this little Indian kid who was running what looked like the Marik structure deck. I felt bad beating him; he had no idea what most of my cards did and looked so sad when I attacked for game. Kept Caiusing his monsters and made a Drill Warrior. He used Nightmare Wheel on my Drill, which I removed during MP2... wanted to just let him use it on Caius, but I won the next turn without it.
OO

Match 4 - Jared and Legendary Six Samurai
This game pissed me off SO much.
1. I controlled easily with Caius and Trishula (seems to be a pattern), I Dark Holed and Heavy Stormed on opening and just sort of won effortlessly. My first thought was, "Oh shit, I don't need to side. This dude sucks." FUCKING MISTAKE.
2. This one would have been mine. I did a summon out of order and got Warninged. Then he Mirror Forced me. Fucker set three first turn. Either way, chalked it up to luck, and didn't side again Game 3.
3. Everything was going my way until he Torrentialed my field. Luckily, I hadn't Normal Summoned, and I had Gallis in hand. Game seemed imminent.
"Reveal Gallis?"
"Sure."
"Mill one."
...Pot of Avarice.
He made a fucking Shi En the next turn, backed it up with three backrow and a Kizan, and gamed me.
MOTHER FUCKIN SPELL MILLS.
OXX

I wanted to play Chow in the finals... if we'd both won the tourney it would have been fucking sick, but NO. Gallis fucked me over. And the sad thing is, I can't cut any of the spells. They're all game-changing if I draw them.

Final Result - 3-1

Well, whatever. I walked away with some stuff I really needed, and learned something about my deck. Not a total loss. I am gonna go back and thrash the shit out of it next week though. On to the deck.

Monsters - 37

3x Gallis the Star Beast

1 Naturia Beast
1 T.G. Hyper Librarian
1 Shooting Quasar Dragon

3 Breaker the Magical Warrior

There you have it, my miserable attempt at taking Locals with a completely unfinished side or extra deck. Not sure if I'm gonna be playing again until Shooting Quasar comes out, and I rip some kid for a Librarian. Until next time~
