Alternate Uses for Tour Bus From the Underworld

When I think of Tour Bus, I immediately associate it with Tour Guide, and the nasty-ass Perfect Circle engine they're creating in tandem. You probably do too. However, while reading this little Christmas jingle, I realized that Tour Bus could be broken without its $180 counterpart, in the same way that Dandylion is so good in Quickdraw, Lightsworn and Merchant decks (for my little Yugi-tards out there, "sent to the Graveyard" doesn't have the "from the field" part that makes Sangan so useless while Exceeding), so it'll get its effect no matter how it's sent to the graveyard.

That means we can discard/mill it.

At three, this card might be able to make up for the lack of multiple Avarice, and let us re-use cards we can't get back normally. Offhand, I can see Dragunities, Lightsworns, Agents, and Full Monster decks using this, and well.

Dragunities can dump it with Dragon Ravine, and since it's a mandatory effect, you'll be able to recycle a Dux for use next turn. (Not that the deck is competitive anymore, but still.)

Lightsworns can use it to re-use BLS Envoy, Maxx "C", Effect Veilers, Judgment Dragons, and Lumina, and it doubles as a DARK for the Chaos stuff.

Agents can use it to put back dead Hyperion/Kristya/maybe even Shine Balls, and they have ease of access with their TGUs.

Full Monster can use it to recycle Synchros/Exceeds they may need again (I've had plenty of times where I could make a second Shooting Quasar Dragon but I needed the Synchros back in the extra,) or, in a pinch, put back Quickdraw/Junk Synchron to use later.

In addition, it returns opponent's cards too. Put back Glow-Up, Plaguespreader, Spore, Grapha, anything that might fuck up your day.

Fucker's too versatile. I have no idea where it might take the game, or whether or not it'll end up a semi-staple like TGU, but I'm not exactly looking forward to it...

Lancer Frogz

I've been messing with this deck for quite a while now, and finally found a build I can see as competitive (If piloted correctly).  Lancer Frogz is a deck based around Sea Lancer.  Paired with Ronintoadin, this card can seem horribly broken at times.  Here's the decklist:

Monsters x29:
Light and Darkness Dragon x2
Caius the Shadow Monarch x3
Tragoedia x2
Gorz the Emissary of Darkness x1
Sea Lancer x3
Swap Frog x3
Dupe Frog x2
Treeborn Frog x1
Poison Draw Frog x3
Ronintoadin x3
Mother Grizzly x2
Battle Fader x3
Sangan x1

Spells x11:
Enemy Controller x3
Salvage x3
Mystical Space Typhoon x2
Heavy Storm x1
Monster Reborn x1
Dark Hole x1

I'm only going to go into the bare minimum for the deck, and if you have any question as to why I chose X card, please post it in the comments below!

Okay, so the main combo here is having a Treeborn, 2 Ronintoadin, 2 Poison Draw Frog in Grave, and a Sea Lancer in hand.  Special Treeborn at the standby, then remove both Poison Draw Frogs for the Ronintoadins.  Then you exceed with the 2 Ronintoadins, and sack Treeborn for Sea Lancer.  Activate Sea Lancer's effect and equip it with the 2 Poison Draw Frogs, and since to the rulings Poison Draw Frog does NOT miss the timing when detached.  Same with Dupe Frog.

Deck Profile - Beast Spam

This is a concept deck I've been working on for a bit.

Monsters - 26

3x Moja
3x Beast Striker
3x King of the Beasts

3x Kinka-byo
2x Lock Cat
2x Key Mouse
2x Giant Rat
2x Super-Nimble Mega Hamster

1x Sangan
1x Summoner Monk
2x Card Trooper

1x Glow-Up Bulb
1x Dandylion

Spells - 9

3x Creature Swap
1x Monster Reborn
1x Dark Hole
1x Heavy Storm
1x Mind Control
1x Pot of Avarice
1x Foolish Burial

Traps - 5

2x Horn of the Phantom Beast
1x Solemn Judgment
2x Solemn Warning

I like this deck not only because the most expensive card (bar Glow-Up and the extra deck, neither of which are totally necessary; run Solidarity if you don't have them) is about five dollars, but because it's actually sort of competitive.

Most of everything is in here to speed up getting out the boss, or to annoy your opponent while doing it. Creature Swap makes sure you'll have an out to any troublesome monster, and might even net you a plus in the process.

If it's not already clear, the deck aims to get a Moja on the field and have King of the Beasts in the grave. The Moja part is accomplished mainly by Beast Striker, then Lock Cat or Kinka-byo. Getting the King in the grave is a bit harder - either discard it for Striker, or mill it with Trooper/Foolish. Once you get that set up, you can start annoying the shit out of your opponent with constant Kings. If you throw in Horn, Stardust won't be able to kill it either.

That's about it for tonight. Moral of the story (deck?) is this: keep trying new things. Be innovative. Use things you want to see be good, and make them good. Until next time.

Metagame Discussion - Inzecters

I learned something today.

In almost every set, Konami releases a broken archetype or card type to boost sales.
-Gladiator Beasts in GLAS.
-The massive amounts of DARK support in PTDN.
-Lightsworns in LODT.
-Synchros in TDGS.
-Further DARK support in CRMS.
-Blackwings in CRMS and RGBT.
-X-Sabers in ANPR and ABPF.
-Infernities in TSHD.
-Karakuri in STBL, STOR and EXVC.
-Legendary Six Sams in STOR.
-Tech Genus in EXVC.
-Exceeds in GENF.

It's deliberate. People will spend much more on a box of a set if there's some OP card or cards in it, and for good reason. For all of these decks save Karakuri (for now) and Tech Genus, they've single-handedly defined at least one format. The PTDN set with the CRMS support even needed an emergency banlist. And what's more, each of them has had their money card.
In GLAS, Heraklinos hit over 200. So did DAD, and Judgment Dragon/Honest. TDGS had basically all of the Synchros. CRMS had Armor Master at 45, Dark Strike at 50, Gale (a fucking rare) at 10, and Black Whirlwind (a common) at 4 or 5. The ABPF Sabers had Emmersblade at 80. Infernities brought Barrier and Launcher at 50 and 25, respectively. Karakuri Burei got up to 25. Shi En was at something like 40, along with Kizan. Tech Genus are expensive for being rares/commons, and then Exceeds brought Leviair at 40 (now 25, thank god) and bumped Tour Guide from 30 to 180.
Every one of those cards sold innumerable amounts of their packs. I have to give props to Konami for creating such a lucrative business out of shiny paper. But this post isn't to bitch about price, or the power creep in the game. No, this post is about the next new broken archetype. Inzecters.

Inzecter Hornet
DARK / Insect / Level 3 / 500atk / 200 def
Once per turn: You can equip 1 "Inzecter" monster in your hand or Graveyard to this card. While this card is equipped to a monster, increase the equipped monster's Level by 3, and the equipped monster gains ATK and DEF equal to this card's ATK and DEF, respectively. You can send this Equip Card to the Graveyard to target 1 card on the field; destroy it.

Inzecter Damsel
DARK / Insect / Level 3 / 1000atk / 1800def
Once per turn: You can equip 1 "Inzecter" monster in your hand or Graveyard to this card. While this card is equipped to a monster, increase the equipped monster's Level by 3. If an Equip Card equipped to this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 "Inzecter" monster from your Deck, except "Inzecter Damsel".

Inzecter Centipede
DARK / Insect / Level 3 / 1600atk / 1200def
Once per turn: You can equip 1 "Inzecter" monster in your hand or Graveyard to this card. While this card is equipped to a monster, increase the equipped monster's Level by 3. If an Equip Card equipped to this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can add 1 "Inzecter" monster from your Deck to your hand.

The only ones that really matter. There are a couple good level sixes that special summon an Inzecter when they're sent to the grave while equipped, Gigamantis and Gigaweevil. Look them up. Not doing more formatting. Anyway, notice that they're all DARK - that means they get all of that stupid DARK support like Dark Armed and Allure. Notice that Hornet can send itself to the grave. That triggers both Damsel and Centipede. Again, notice, notice all the things, all of them are level 3. Rank 3s are almost as easy with this deck as summoning Tour Guide, but this deck plusses while doing it.

Picture this scenario - you open Damsel and Foolish. The four other cards don't matter. Foolish Hornet (-1), summon Damsel, equip Hornet (+1), send Hornet (-1), blow up a card (+1) and summon Centipede (+1). Centipede equip Hornet (+1), send Hornet (-1), blow up a card (+1), add Damsel to hand (+1), Exceed something like Zenmaines or Leviair (-1). Do the whole fucking thing over again next turn. That play was a +2.

WHAT THE FUCK

You can also run Grepher to speed the deck up. I'd run Armageddon Knight over it though, because Grepher requires stuff in hand to work and also takes away from the retarded advantage you can rack up.

I'd like to point out the brokenness of combining this with Wind-Ups. All you need is three of each Inzecter, a Wind-Up Hunter, and three Wind-Up Rat. After that derpy-ass turn, instead of Exceeding into Leviair or Zenmaines, go Zenmaighty. Do the derpy Wind-Up hand loop. Correct me if I'm wrong (which I'm not) but after the Inzecter shenanigans and the Wind-Up hand loop, you've just made a +6. And your opponent has no hand or field.

I'm buying a fucking box (or fucking boxes) of ORCS; I highly suggest you do too, because unless you're running this deck or a way to counter it, you're gonna lose. And it's gonna be oh so fun playing this.

PS: Chow, requesting a Wind-Up article so peoples who don't wanna look up the Wind-Up loop can have a free tutorial.

New Masked HERO and the Descent of God

http://shriek.twoday.net/stories/55773990/

You guys see the two fusion monsters in the pic? You know what those guys are? Do yah? Do yah??? They're the new Masked HERO :3

PP14-JP005
Masked HERO Acid
WATER/Warrior - Fusion - Effect/8/2600/2100
Manga Effect: When this card is Special Summoneddestroy all Spell/Trap Cards your opponent controls. Then, all face-up monsters your opponent controls lose 300 ATK.
PP14-JP006
Masked HERO Daian
EARTH/Warrior - Fusion - Effect/8/2800/2300
Manga Effect: If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from your Deck.

I was hoping Acid would have been a WIND so that Mask Change would have more targets (Airman and Great Tornado). Its effect is filled with awesomeness though, a walking Harpie's Feather Duster. Absolute Zero + Mask Change into Acid becomes a one sided field nuke. It's secondary effect is a little underwhelming, but makes Scrap Dragon, Scrap Archfiend, Crimson Blader, Gorz, Trishula, and anything with 2800 attack or less killable. Sadly, it falls short of some of the big guys in today's meta (Chaos Soldier - Envoy of Creation, Shooting Quasar, Grapha + Gate).

Daian is incredible. A +1 in battle just like Nova Master. Safe Zone on this guy and you'll be swarming the field in no time. Pull Airman and that's a +2. Makes Mask Change and Super Poly plays more possible. Mask Change from Gaia into Daian promises a +1 unless your opponent has a backrow or Veiler. There aren't many good targets besides Forestman and The Earth. Even then, most HERO Gate players don't run either of those but they're a shoo-in for me.

After these are released, the only Masked HERO fusion left will be Dark Law. It doesn't look like we'll be getting a LIGHT Masked HERO which is really disappointing since there have been so many times when I wished I could have Mask Changed my Another Neos, Voltech, or Shining :c

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Slifer_the_Sky_Dragon

Omg finally, the last of the Gods and he is a fuckin beast. Awesome artwork. His second effect (Summon Lightning Blast!!!!!) KILLS Plants. This could take a spot in Emperors/Monarchs instead of Obelisk. I was thinking about running this in HEROs for nostalgic sake but I was worried about whether or not I could keep the hand advantage. But then I realized something: you'll only need this guy at 1000 most of the time because his effect will reduce anything with 2900 attack or less to God food. Sadly, it doesn't come with a built in protection effect like Obelisk does so simply Synchro Summoning into a Brionac or Scrap Dragon in defense (it only weakens monsters that are Summoned in attack mode) will put Osiris/Slifer in its place. Tuners like Plaguespreader, Glow-Up, T.G. Striker and Spore can easily play around this guy's effect. Nevertheless, this card is a huge improvement compared to Ra.

Gotcha~

Chow's Local Report 12/4/2011 and Cardfight!! Vanguard

Sorry I haven't been posting enough. Between a job and classes, I really don't have the time to just plop down and freely write for fun when I could be relaxing some other way. I'll keep this report short too since I ended up playing scrubs half the day. Everyone else was at regionals and I guess I didn't get the memo.

Just like last time, we had 2 people who went 4-0. Although it wasn't necessary to play another match, the winner would get a Duelist League card with those fancy colored letters. It was me and Jared and this time again so we got right down to it.

Round 5 - Jared & Legendary Six Sams
1 - He won the dice roll and went into Shi En right away. I didn't have Veiler in hand so I couldn't stop it. What I did have was a Terraforming, E - Call, Heat, Miracle Fusion, and Safe Zone. Drew into Gate and tried Terraforming into another but was blocked by Bribe. Then I tried Calling Stratos but Shi En took care of that. I tried stalling but the game was over 3 turns later.
2 - I sided into TKRO but it didn't really mater though because I didn't draw into him during any of my remaining games. I summon Diamond Dude and milled a Dark Hole. He goes into Enishi and Kageki but Safe Zone protected Diamond. Dark Hole activated next turn and I was free to continue to plus off Diamond Dude. Hit a Reinforcement of the Army, then a Emergency Call, then a Noblemen which I Exterminated his Mirror Force with, then a Parallel. No misses >:) I don't think he drew too many monsters but did have a decent amount of backrow to counteract my Fusions. I forced Shi En to negate my Destiny Draw, activated Noblemen of Extermination at my own face down and chained the Safe Zone onto his Shi En. I minused 2 but he lost a Shi En which was good enough for me. I forced a Torrential with Black Luster Soldier - Envoy and followed up with two Miracle Fusions for game.
3 - This was a hella fun game. He set Kageki, I attacked into it with Stratos. He drew and pass. I drew into Ocean, summoned, set Safe Zone and end. He summons Kagemusha and I activate Safe Zone on Ocean in response to the summon. He destroys Stratos and I recycled it next turn. He destroys it again I recycle and blow up his backrow instead of the usual searching. I was steadily building up my resources with Stratos. I started pushing back with BLS and I thought I had him on a roll. Feeling confident, I Safe Zoned my BLS during his Standby. He goes into Black Rose which I was totally chill with. I had Diamond Dude, Miracle Fusion, and Monster Reborn in hand, a dead Stratos, Ocean, and BLS in grave. He wasn't letting me off that easy and Reborned my own BLS. I was down to 3100 but next turn, I reborned Stratos, added Voltic to hand, Miracle Fused into Great Tornado and attacked over BLS. Misplay on my part since I could have simply Miracled into Great Tornado and then Reborned BLS. Fugglor also pointed out that I didn't Normal Summoned and could have Voltic into another Stratos for game. Next turn I did the Voltic play and then Super Poly'd into Adoration for the final push.
XOO

Pros:
-Black Luster Soldier is a god send. Thank you so much Epicake, I found my answer to Shi En and Naturia Beast.
-Safe Zone is not as dead as I thought it would be. At the beginning of the format, I was sick of getting it MST'd so I just got rid of it completely. However, today made me appreciate me this card sooo much. This on Ocean, Diamond, Nova Master, and BLS will guarantee me to score pluses.
-Got over my SixSam-phobia.

Cons:
-Crap packs.
-I thought I would end up with a lot of dead Spells in my hand so I threw in two Summoner Monks. Most of the time, it just sat in my hand since I didn't really want to pitch any of Spells since they all played a key part in my plans. Most of the time I wish it was a HERO. Too bad we don't have Escuridao.

I pulled crap from my Turbo Packs and GENF (another Infected Mail ><). I did manage to score another SR Chain Disappearance and SR Quickdraw for Fugglor. Got my last SR Diamond Dude, two Secret Destiny Draws, and a third UR Miracle Fusion. Now all I need is 2 more ScR Super Polymerization :3

I had fun today but I wish the tougher people would show up more often. It would have been nice if I could have played Fugglor in the last round but he put together a deck at the last second and got controlled by BW :3

Trying to decide if I should go next week even though I have exams to study for...

Oh and one last thought. I've been debating whether or not I should play Cardfight!! Vanguard. I've been watching the anime and it looks really fun. I've had thoughts but it was when I was in a sort of YGO slump. Before I could blow off 160 bucks on Trial Decks and two boxes of Set 1, Fugglor managed to snap some sense into me. I gotta save up some dough for other things...like Order of Chaos!!! Hahah.
If you guys have the time and money to play another card game though, I would highly suggest investing it into Cardfight!! It's made by the guy who wrote Yu-Gi-Oh! R and Duel Masters and is extremely fun. Royal Paladins for the win!!!!! Maybe I'll start when it hits shelves in Oregon...
If you guys are intersted, check out RyuKuze, LGQ, and Rauzes blog ;)

Shooting Quasar Dragon

I'm really surprised no one in the area has this yet... I'm gonna have to end up buying it >>

And what's more, I'm astonished that decks based around this guy haven't been topping in the OCG. Especially since he's a double-attacking giant Shi En with a better negation effect who sends out his bitch to clean up after he leaves.

Imma gonna break this shit, just you watch. Or help. That'd be cool too.
