Local Report 3/5/2011

First tournament with Shining and I was so stoked! Today was also regionals but it was kinda out of the way and I wanted to practice before doing anything big.

Name: Chow
Deck: Gate HERO aka Lancelot

Match #1 - Josh and Aliens
Game 1 - I got out Absolute Zero first turn and had Solemn Judgement face down with Fusion Gate and Voltic in hand. I attacked and he Compulsed. After a lot of thinking, I decided to not risk it and Solemn his Compulse. Game was mine >:]
Game 2 - Chain Material and Fusion Gate won me this game.
OO

Match #2 - Morphtronics
Game 1 - He was beating me down with Videon/3 Equips. I Fusion Gated into Zero and then Shining for game.
Game 2 - I kept Chimerateching whenever he swarmed. Yeah it's not easy getting past a 4K Fortress Dragon.
OO

Match #3 - Brah and Gate HERO
Game 1 - I didn't keep track of how many Shinings I had left in the Extra Deck, activated Fusion Gate, attempted to go for Shining but couldn't find any. Next turn he activated Chain Material...
Game 2 - We traded off Heroes one after another. I went into Absolute Zero and Ocean, suicided into Kinetic Shoulder, and attacked with Ocean. I had Miracle Fusion and Monster Reborn in hand but decided to play conservatively. Big mistake. He went into Rainbow Neos, Gaia, and Absolute Zero. Sigh...
XX

Match #4 - Zack and SalvoDAD
Game 1 - Chain Material and Fusion Gate shenanigans. I Rainbow Neos his backrow, went into AZ and then into Shining which cleared off Sangan which he then added PSZ with, went into another Shining and used the dead HERO in grave with Neos for another Shining.
Game 2 - Seeing as how I ended the last game too quickly to know what to side in, I just sided in another Thunder King for Synchro plays. He Gold Sacred into DAD so he would get it back in two turns. The next three turns was him setting Dekoichi, having me destroy it, Dark Erupting it, and setting it again. I eventually drew into Gate and fused like crazy before he had a chance to counter with Dark Armed.
OO

Overall Rank: 2nd of 18?
Prize: 2 Turbo Pack 4. (SR Diva!!! :D)

My thoughts:
I'm pretty pissed I lost to my own HERO build teched with Gemini Spark but I did learn a lot. I should have kept better track of my Shinings and take more time with my moves. I also have a habit of over analyzing things, not just duels but life as well. While playing conservatively is good, learning when to play like that is also important. HEROES are an explosive deck and leaving an open monster with no backrow and thinking my 4300 LP would not hit 0 next turn was a stupid thought.
I have to admit though, although this deck is HEROES, I don't have much fun winning as I thought I would. My opponents don't look like they're having fun and the only thing that seems to be going on in my mind when I draw my hand is "Chain Material. Fusion Gate. Chain Material. Fusion Gate. Chain Material. Fusion Gate. Chain Material. Fusion Gate. Chain Material. Fusion Gate. Chain Material. Fusion Gate." I enjoy playing games where our LP are neck and neck and amazing plays are happening and stopped at the same time. Or maybe, and I don't mean to be arrogant, my games weren't challenging enough for me (except for Brah). Most of the really good people were playing in Regionals that day so I guess it should have been expected. I'm planning on giving Gate HERO another go for 1st and keep doing so til I get my very first 1st place.

Second, my friend Kevin has been pulling amazing stuff from the Turbo Packs he won. The first time he did a favor the guy who works there (Andrew, my self proclaimed Asian bro ho) and so Andrew rewarded him by throwing a Turbo Pack 3 at him but not before rubbing it on his balls. Kevin pulled a super rare Rekindling. Second time Kevin got a Turbo Pack 4, he rushed to Andrew and told him to rub his balls on it. Pulled a super rare Compulsory Evacuation Device. So today, all depressed that I got second, opened my Turbo Pack 4. But just as I was opening it, a thought occured. I rushed to Andrew, told him to rub his balls on it, and pulled a super rare Deep Sea Diva! ALL HAIL THE MAGICAL BALLS!!!!

A final note, I beat Zack and SalvoDAD so fast, I didn't get to see the unique part of the deck. He was using Genex Duradark and Neutron!!! Freakin genius! It acts as Chaos Sorc food and the Duradark can be revived via Black Salvo!!! And the guy's name was Zack Fast! Zack FAST! FAST!!!! Such a sick name for a guy with a sick deck.

Gotcha~

Mammoth Graveyard

Omg it's a dinosaur x.X
I always thought it was a zombie. Mind = Blown

Not much has been going on recently in Chow's world. Banlist doesn't make me happy but I guess Honest/BoM/Dandylion at 1 can do that to you. The new priority ruling is sick though and Konami needs to hurry up and implement it into the TCG. I want to Bottomless Dark Armed and JD without getting my stuff blown up D:
Haha at first, I kinda freaked out at this new ruling because I was afraid it might hit Stratos but realized that it was a Trigger effect. Prisma being an Ignition kinda hurts though :( You can't summon and dump to set up for Miracle Fusion anymore...

Hmm lesse what else...my decks are both up to date with the new banlist. Stardust Assault and HEROES! Yeeeee.
Still working out the kinks in my Assault Mode deck but getting out SD/AM is very satisfying. I do not like it when they counter with a Colossal when there are two warriors in grave...that makes me very angry >:[
HEROES are gonna be so sick though, I have this secret tech I want to use against Brah's HEROES that will hopefully decimate him >:D
9 more days til Shining~

And I guess I should keep my promise with the Asian girls...
For all you guys who can't handle No-Fap-February, this is Ayase Haruka. She's the main actress in this Asian drama I've been watching recently (Hotaru no Hikari). Have fun on Google~

Gotcha~

It's "Boggart" Knight, not "Bow-gart" Knight.

I'm fed up with people saying cards are good when they clearly aren't. People posting decklist explanations will always try to justify shit like Book of Moon, Torrential, or BTH by saying "It's a staple" or "It's so good!" Just FYI, whenever I see/hear explanations like that they translate to "DERP" for a reason. Oh, side note. I was watching an X-Saber deck profile like five minutes ago, and he runs three Book of Moon because "it's the best card in the game." His reasons -- Offensive, defensive, stops Tuners. Yeah, alright, sure. The guy also justified running two BTH by saying "Obviously." That guy's a total pro. Anyway;

Number One -- Why Book of Moon is NOT good right now.

If I had to sum up my thoughts on Book, it would be "GK LOL." Yes, I think in LOLcat. Anyway, against the now-tier one Gravekeepers (who don't run Tuners) and Plant Synchro (who, alongside GKs, like to set things), Book is useless. Especially for those people who run it in triplicate. It basically means that 8% of your deck is going to be dead. Last I checked, dead cards are not a good thing to draw into.
Before you go saying "But Fugglor, it stops monsters from using their effects," Book of Moon does NOT stop effects from resolving UNLESS the effect is targeting something and you flip the target face-down, or the effect needs to check a card statistic which isn't possible, because face-down. BECAUSE FACE-DOWN.
That means that it works against Dimensional Prison (which you see so often, right?) because it targets, and against Bottomless because BTH needs to verify an attack stat at resolution, but NOT against things like Spy (which will just activate anyway), Ryko (again, will just kill something, mill, and be primed to do it again), and Descendant, because like I'm trying to hammer into your brain, Book does not cancel effects, it just flips the fuckers ass-up.
I will give Book TWO things; it disrupts Synchro plays, and it stops attacks (only important because of Gladiator Beasts.) However, the only things you're going to want to block are Synchros, and GAME-CHANGING ATTACKS. That means if you're going to 1. be put below 2000 so your Warnings won't activate, 2. going to lose if you don't Book, or 3. going to be put in a horrible state in which you have no situational advantage or tempo. And, let me just say this -- Book is a -1. 99% of the time, you will lose card advantage. You can always destroy Equip cards (Armory Arm) or make plays with Fulhelmknight/Firedog, but unless you run Sabers or Flamvell variants you're not gonna make a lot of headway.
In summary; Book sucks because it
1. is dead against the top-tier (and therefore most commonly played) meta decks.
2. loses card presence.
3. takes up too much space.
It is useful because it
1. disrupts Synchroing.
2. blocks game-winning attacks.
3. messes up Gladiators.
I think it's worth siding, but definitely not maining. It ruins your matchups against GKs, and somewhat messes up your Plant Synchro match, but against stuff like Blackwings, where it can mess up Black Whirlwind, Shura, and Synchroing, and Sabers, where it blocks their Boggart Knight into Black Rose or Hyunlei plays, it's worth having in your arsenal. If you want good, non-situational disruption, get some damn Effect Veilers. They're about to plummet in price for you Brah-like players out there.

Number Two -- Why Torrential Tribute is NOT a staple.

I'm sure all of you who run TT are doing so because of the potential plus. But let me ask you something; how often do you not have any monsters on the field but have backrows when your opponent has two or more? Almost never against a good player. And here's another question; will Torrential save you from a game-winning attack? I'd rather run a fucking Book. It also misses the timing a LOT of times, and like Book, won't stop opposing effects from going off.
It sucks against Trap Stun, it sucks against decks who can Special Summon rapidly, and it sucks IN decks that CAN'T Special Summon. So, things like Gravekeepers, Scraps, Plant Synchro to an extent, and Hero Beat. Again, it's good in some things, like Blackwings and Quickdraw Plants, and it's good against Gladiators and all of the things it sucks in. Side it or don't run it, except in the decks it works in. Personally, I wouldn't even side it, because siding in one of something means there's a 2.5-ish% chance you'll draw it, and there are better things to side.

Number Three -- Why BTH sucks B.

How many cards do you see that are actually over 1500 in the top decks? I mean, it hits Blackwings hard, but it fails against Sabers (Fulhelmknight dodges), Gravekeepers (all of their monsters that they summon are below 1500 at the time of summon), AND Plant Synchro (Dandylion, Quickdraw, and Lonefire). It also can't get you advantage in any way. You know what's better? Regular Trap Hole. It might not hit Synchros but it kills just about all of the Normal Summons out there.

If you noticed that the second and third "Numbers" aren't detailed like the first one, it's because I got lazy and tired. I'll probably update this post sometime in the future when I get pissy about terrible players again.
P.S. -- The reason for the title is that whenever I watch an X-Saber decklist, they say "Bow-gart" Knight incessantly. "Bow-gart Knight is such a good card! OMG LOL WTF BBQ." It's fucking Boggart Knight. The "O" sound is like the "O" in dog. Baww-gart. You know what word is pronounced like "Bow-gart"? Bogart. As in Humphrey Bogart. Screw you guys, and learn to pronounce easy ass words like Boggart. Aslla Piscu, I can understand, and even Koa'ki Meiru to an extent, but Boggart is a god damn English word.

Rants 'N Stuff

Now no one can say I haven't posted in a while. As for a topic, I bought a box of STBL (yeah I know STFU) from CardRush in Phoenix, Arizona. They opened the box (meaning they could have scaled) and took three of the packs out. Which I only noticed AFTER I'd opened the packs. Short story shorter, don't buy from them. They're dicks. But as for the pulls, I got an Ultimate Rare Tuning, an Ultra Red Nova Dragon, a fucking Ultra Power Giant god damn it, a Blackback, a Formula Synchron, and two Recruiter. That was seriously all that was worth noting. I have a feeling my other three packs would have had Glow-Up, Gae Dearg and Karakuri Shogun. :P In the meantime, I'm filing loads of complaints against CardRush and if they don't compensate me... I'm gonna be even more annoying. :D That's all for today.

Reminiscing

It's almost the end of the year and what better way than to look back at your own personal achievments? Yu-Gi-Oh! Style~
So here we go! Magik kado, Omoide no Buranko, hatsudou!!! Magic card, Swing of Reminiscence, activate!!! :D

#1 - Brah has a field of four tokens, a monster, and a couple face downs. My turn comes and entering the Standby Phase, Future Fusion activates, bringing out E.HERO Absolute Zero. Then Main Phase, I Heavy Storm! Yayyyyy! You just got Black Rosed, Hero style!

#2 - CyDra vs Norlereas Deep Draw. Epicake has a Phantom of Chaos, Dark Horus, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, and a dragon [Prime Material?]. Anyways, my field composed of a face down Trap Stun. It's now or never. DRAW! Got Mind Control which I used on his Phantom but not before I Trap Stunned the field.. Removed my CyDra from the game via Phantom. Now bring a miracle, POWER BOND!!! Fused Phantom with the CyDra in hand for Cyber Twin. Attacked and drop Honest for game!

#3 - Hero vs Blackwings! Oh shit, I'm staring down a Gale, Stardust, Goyo, and Armed Wing. No cards on the field and 3 potentially useless cards in my hand. But no cards in my hand are useless, DRAW! Go, SUPER POLYMERIZATION! Fusion Summon, Surging Dragon Knight - Draco Equiste!!! Epic draw ftw.

Alright, I'm done boasting my ego. Those are my most memorable plays of 2010.

Gotcha~

Happy Day After Christmas!

Merry Christmas to our one reader...and all you anonymous readers out there! As a thank you for all our readers who I promised asian girls to, here's an asian girl

Merry Christmas you guys! But please remember that we're trying to cover a children's card game here, not degrade women.

My Rant:
-In the process of trading off my Warning for a Gungnir. I'm very reluctant to trade Warning off because it's a symbol of my mad ripping skillz but I guess that's not really something to be proud of :/
-Yayyy for Gungnir though! Getting ready for March when we get Shining and hopefully Great Tornado >:]
-Although we're not getting Dragunity Drive, we are getting Dragunity Legion. Hopefully this won't be a repeat of Advent of the Emperor/Dark Emperor which they completely change the deck theme and remove all the good shit...I kinda want to build Dragunities.
-Speaking of dragons, lets welcome Orgymaster, the man with a dragon fetish that rivals my HERO fetish.
-Nvm I don't want to build Dragunities, HEROES are still the best :3 I'll leave that to Fugglor.
-Instant Fusion + Mask Change by Rauzes x.X I can't believe I didn't think of that. Instant Absolute Zero setup right there. It's a shame that there aren't many LV5 or below HEROes that aren't Water (E.HERO Sailor Man and Steam Healer), it would make the combo a lot more versatile and tool boxish D:
-370 bucks in Christmas money?!? o.0 Screw YGOz, I'm getting me some YesStyle clothes :D

Gotcha~
